The 5th Iranian Congress on Progress in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, focused on expanding cellular technologies and integrating basic and clinical sciences, was held through the executive efforts of ISMI in collaboration with IUMS.
According to the ISMI Public Relations, the presentation of cutting-edge achievements in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, along with a side exhibition hosting dynamic knowledge-based companies active in the cellular product supply chain and the participation of leading international and national physicians and scholars, transformed this year’s congress into one of Iran’s landmark events in regenerative medicine.
From a research-weight perspective, more than 300 accepted abstracts were presented orally or as posters during the three-day event, with only 10 percent rejected for failing to meet scholarly standards. The congress also featured 14 panels with 73 lectures on regenerative medicine and cell therapy, as well as a special symposium on “Exosome Therapy: Opportunities and Challenges,” held in cooperation with active associations and companies in obstetrics and infertility, dermatology and aesthetics, and pharmaceuticals and medical equipment. All sessions carried continuing education credits.
In the top posters section, Ms. Maryam Nikchi, Mr. Mohammad Hossein Farhid, and Ms. Azadeh Sadat Azadbakhs were recognized as the selected awardees of the 5th Iranian Congress on Progress in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine. The companies Sinacell and Paeizan Tejarat Mehr were also chosen as the top exhibitors of this year’s congress. Several months of efforts by the organizing team, particularly Dr. Ali Karimi Morid, President of ISMI, and Mr. Hamed Afri, the institute’s Executive Director, were also acknowledged in appreciation for their role in planning and organizing the congress.
Assessing the outlook of regenerative medicine in Iran following the synergy generated at the congress, Dr. Nader Tavakkoli, President of Iran University of Medical Sciences, emphasized the necessity of advancing new therapeutic technologies. He stated that cell therapy, gene therapy, and tissue engineering constitute foundational fields bridging basic and clinical sciences. He expressed hope that this congress would pave the way for expanding applied research, generating clinical outcomes, and increasing interdisciplinary cooperation.
Dr. Seyed Mohammad Amin Haramshahi, Executive Secretary of the 5th Iranian Congress on Progress in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, noted that previous congresses had been held with a constructive motivation to expand knowledge and steer research in tissue engineering. He added that, in addition to past orientations, this year’s event was organized to address challenges and help mitigate instabilities in the field of cell-based products.
This year, in the international cooperation section of the 5th Iranian Congress on Progress in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, two networks, INN and CINVU from COMSTECH, and ISC, collaborated with Iran University of Medical Sciences for the first time. In addition, the exhibition section of the 5th Iranian Congress on Progress in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine hosted several dynamic knowledge-based companies active in the cellular product and regenerative medicine value chain. The companies “Celltech Pharmed,” “SinaCell,” “Tasnīm Gostar,” “Ogene NanoBioTechnology,” “Kimia Peyman Iranian,” “Ideh Pezeshki Ashkan,” “Taskin Bioregeneration,” “Arotamin,” “Paeizan Tejarat Mehr,” “Tejarat Gostar Pavir Tavanai,” and “Afamed” showcased their latest achievements to enthusiastic visitors and physicians.
Continuing this orientation, Dr. Ali Karimi Morid, President of the Islamic Strategic Management Institute, outlined the institute’s planning for organizing medical events. He stated that, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, medical universities across the country, the scientific networks of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, distinguished scholars, and all companies and actors in the knowledge-based medical ecosystem, the institute has developed plans and expert groundwork for future congresses, exhibitions, and scientific events that will contribute to the advancement of science and technology.
According to this report, the 5th Iranian Congress on Progress in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine was held from November 29 to December 1, 2025, organized by the Islamic Strategic Management Institute at Razi International Conference Center of Iran University of Medical Sciences. This three-day congress served as a hub for discussion and presentation of research and the latest achievements in stem cells, dermatology, aesthetics and wound healing, the musculoskeletal system, soft tissue reconstruction, obstetrics and midwifery, reproductive biology, exosomes and cellular derivatives, biomaterials, cell and gene therapy, and the nervous system and special senses.
